Mid-Week Challenge

The careers website Glassdoor released its annual 50 Best Jobs in America report for 2022. According to the report, tech workers came out on top, with Enterprise Architects No. 1 on the list. They have a median base salary of $144,997 a year, 14,021 job openings and a satisfaction rating of 4.1 out of 5.0, according to the report.  A six-figure salary and the option to work from home? It sounds too good to be true. The job score is determined by weighing three factors: earning potential, overall job satisfaction rating and number of job openings. Some 90% of Enterprise Architects reported having access to work-from-home benefits.  As I read the report I thought, “wow this is awesome, but what the heck is an Enterprise Architect? Maybe I’d be more suited for the rest of the top ten.”  Full Stack Engineer, Data Scientist, Devops Engineer, Strategy Manager, Machine Learning Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, Java Developer, and finally Product Manager rounded out the Top Ten! https://www.glassdoor.com/List/Best-Jobs-in-America-LST_KQ0,20.htm   I’ll have to admit, based on job title alone, it took me until position ten to have any idea what the job might be about.  I guess the work force has changed a lot since I entered so many years ago.  No matter, based simply on the reporting in the article, I said “sign me up!” Who wouldn’t want a six-figure job, work from home, full benefits and hold one of the top ten best jobs in America?  I don’t even know what these jobs are, but if I were new to the workforce and based on the description, I want one

This idea got me to thinking, a lot of people don’t even know what a Christian is, but based on those they know, would they want to be one?  Most research says, no! How sad that truth is to hear.  Believers know that a life surrendered to Christ ensures eternal life after death.  More so, Christ provides the hope of eternity while still in this world, which allows us to live a free and abundant life! But when most people who are not Christians, encounter someone who identifies as a Christian, the nonbeliever comes away with the attitude of “no thanks.”    https://www.str.org/w/what-do-non-christians-think-of-christians-and-christianity-    https://blog.lifeway.com/newsroom/2016/06/28/research-unchurched-will-talk-about-faith-not-interested-in-going-to-church/   Certainly, a lot of these feelings have to do with misperceptions about what the Bible actually says, but some of it simply boils down to Christians not living a desirable Christlike lifestyle.

Imagine what this world would be like if more Believers actually lived like they believed what we say we believe as Christians!  What would the impact on our world be if we as Christians sincerely loved one another, as Jesus commanded us to do? (John 13:34)

I believe that more people in this world would have the same reaction I did when I read the list of best jobs in America, “I don’t know what they know, or I don’t know what they have, but I want some!!”

Make it your goal today to be more aware of the “Christian” vibe you give off to those around you.  Simply by the way you live and the choices you make, people should see something different about you.  Something positive, something desirable are the things all of us want more of in our life.  The best job in the world is being an Ambassador for Christ! As far as the career path goes, my tech buddies will have to tell me what these jobs actually do before I knock the dust off my resume!

The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers.  Acts 9:31

Serving the Savior,

Bro. Jonathan
